General description
Widgets are the core building blocks of a dashboard. They present data in different forms, for example as time series, key figures, comparisons, tables, maps, or structural overviews. Each widget has a clearly defined purpose, such as monitoring, analysis, status assessment, contextualization, or navigation.
Widgets use the same global time filter of the dashboard and access available data via defined queries. They differ in focus, level of aggregation, type of interaction, and therefore in informational value and level of detail. A well-designed dashboard combines widgets in a way that first provides orientation and then enables drill-down into details.
