Admin Roles and Permissions

Can an organization exist without an admin?

No. It is technically not possible for an organization to exist without at least one admin.

Is there a super admin or different admin levels?

No. There is no super admin.

All admins have exactly the same permissions, regardless of whether they were the first admin of the organization or were added later.

Can admins remove other admins?

Yes. Any admin can remove any other admin, including the admin who originally invited them.

Is there a maximum number of admins or users?

No.

There is:

  • no maximum number of users per organization
  • no limit on the number of admins per organization

Do admins have any hidden restrictions?

No.

Admins can perform all actions provided by the system. There are no hidden restrictions.

Can viewers or editors be promoted to admins?

Yes.

Any user can be changed from Viewer or Editor to Admin at any time.

Can admin rights be granted temporarily?

No.

Roles cannot be granted for a limited time. Automatic revocation of admin rights is not possible.

Can an admin change their own role?

No.

An admin cannot change their own role.

Can an admin change the role of a logged-in user?

Yes.

Role changes are possible even while the affected user is logged in.

When do role changes take effect?

Role changes take effect immediately and apply instantly to active sessions.

Are roles extensible or configurable?

No.

The roles Admin, Editor, and Viewer are architecturally fixed.

Invitations and Pending State

Can a user be invited multiple times to the same organization?

No.

A user can only be invited once per organization.

Can the same user be invited to multiple organizations in parallel?

Yes.

A user can be invited to multiple organizations, even if other invitations have not yet been accepted.

What happens if there is a typo in the email address?

The user must be invited again using the correct email address.

The incorrect pending user must be removed manually.

Can admins change users’ email addresses?

No.

Email addresses cannot be changed for either active or pending users.

Is there a limit on pending users?

No.

There is no limit to the number of pending users in an organization.

Can pending users already be assigned permissions?

Yes.

Device and dashboard permissions can already be assigned or changed for pending users.

Do changes to users affect devices or dashboards?

No.

Devices and dashboards always exist at the organization level.

Removing or changing a user has no effect on resources.

An invitation link can only be used once and is bound to the email address and the organization.

An invitation link cannot be used by another user.

Can pending users be filtered or hidden?

All admins of an organization can rename it at any time.

What happens to invitations when an organization is deleted?

Invitations become invalid because they are bound to the organization and the user.

Can organizations be archived or restored?

Deleted organizations cannot be restored and cannot be archived.

Is there a primary organization per user?

No.

There is no primary organization.

User settings such as email address or password are independent of organizations.

Are organization switches logged?

Device and Dashboard Assignments

Are there limits for device or dashboard assignments?

No.

There is no maximum number of devices or dashboards per user.

How do metering point permissions work?

Access to a parent metering point grants access to all underlying metering points.

What happens when a user’s role changes from Viewer to Editor?

The user retains access to the same resources but can now edit or extend them.

What happens when a user’s role changes from Editor to Viewer?

The user retains access to the same resources but can only view them and can no longer edit them.
