Which data is transmitted to the Device Management Service when performing a factory reset on the device?

A factory reset cannot be executed on the device through the Device Management Service.

If a factory reset is performed on the device via direct local access, the certificates on the device are also deleted. As a result, the device can no longer connect to its existing entry in the Device Management Service.

To re-establish the connection, the corresponding certificate must also be deleted in the Device Management Service. The user opens the device entry in the Device Management Service by clicking the three-dot menu, which provides options for that specific device. By selecting “Reset Device Token”, the token for the certificates is deleted, allowing the device to reconnect. No previously sent data is deleted during this process.

As of December 2025, an alert is triggered immediately when the configured condition occurs.

What is the maximum number of alerts per device allowed for the DMS Basic Add-on?

There is no limitation on the number of alerts per device.

How can I prevent users from deleting certain devices?

Proficloud.io and the Device Management Service, including its add-ons, contain a user management system based on roles and assignable resources. If you want a specific user to see a device but not delete it, assign the “Viewer” role. If you also want the user to see only one device, you can assign access exclusively to that device.

More information about the User Management Service can be found here: https://proficloud.io/smart-services/user-management-service/

Can I send DMS Basic Add-on alerts to Microsoft Teams instead of email?

It is currently not possible to send alerts from the Device Management Service or the DMS Basic Add-on to any target other than an email address.

Can I export a CSV again to use it as a backup?

It is currently not possible to export the device list as a CSV file.

How do I get notified if an application or firmware update fails?

Both application and firmware updates can be viewed in the respective tabs of the device in the device overview. For batch updates, the Update History provides additional information.

External notifications are not available.

Can I define custom health states instead of traffic light indicators?

For devices with direct connections, defining custom health states is not possible.

For virtual devices, such as those created in Node-RED, the health status can be defined there.

Is there an audit log of all completed device updates?

Each device shows all completed updates (successful or not) in a history within the respective tabs (Application / Firmware).

For batch updates, the status messages can also be viewed in the Update History.

What is the maximum number of devices I can manage simultaneously in the Device Management Service?

There is no limitation on the number of devices in an organization.

Can I register a device offline and synchronize it later?

It is not necessary for a device to be connected to the internet at the time of registration.

Devices can be registered first and connected to the internet later to establish synchronization with Proficloud.io and the Device Management Service.

How do I migrate devices from one organization to another without data loss?

This is not easily possible.

Time Series Data cannot be migrated.

In the Energy Management Service, migration can be performed via CSV export and import.

Device Management Service data (logs, metadata, etc.) cannot be migrated.

Support can assist. Please contact inbox@phoenixcontact-sb.io

Can I create multiple user roles with different permissions?

It is currently not possible to create custom roles with different permissions. Roles are predefined for the entire platform. Users can be granted access at the device or dashboard level. This is handled by the User Management Service. More information is available here: https://proficloud.io/smart-services/user-management-service/

How are email channels for alerting validated against spam?

There is currently no anti-spam validation for email channels in the alerting of the DMS Basic Add-on.

How can I prevent multiple users from starting firmware updates at the same time?

This is controlled via the role system of the User Management. Only admins or editors can initiate an update. If a device is updating, it is shown on the device itself. During the installation process, no other user can update that device.

More information about user management can be found here: https://proficloud.io/smart-services/user-management-service/

Can Node-RED devices be duplicated automatically?

Devices cannot be duplicated in Proficloud.io or the Device Management Service. Every device (virtual or physical) has a unique UUID.

In Node-RED, flows can be duplicated and then connected to a new Proficloud node.

More about Node-RED can be found here: https://proficloud.io/knowledge-hub/e-learning/get-to-know-node-red-and-proficloud-io/

How much data volume does a typical device send per month?
